Born in 1978 in Inner Mongolia, China, Zheng Lu now resides and works in Beijing. He pursued his studies in sculpture at Lu Xun Fine Art Academy between 1998 and 2003 before continuing his education at the esteemed Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing from 2004 to 2007. While still a student, Zheng was honoured with the LVMH Prize, which granted him a three-month study opportunity at the prestigious École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) in Paris. Primarily focusing on steel structure-based sculpture and installation work, Zheng Lu’s artistic practice also encompasses two-dimensional pieces, multimedia projects, and public art.
Through persistent and diverse artistic endeavours, Zheng has developed and refined his unique artistic logic and language system. His work spans an array of subjects and concepts, such as reflections on materials, writing, water, time, and space, all integrated into a comprehensive and consistent conceptual framework. This distinctive approach to art is what sets Zheng Lu apart. By exploring various existential possibilities, his work also delves into the connections between nature, individual temperament, and the self.
