Artist-Nemo-Jantzen

Meet Nemo Jantzen

Nemo Jantzen (b. 1970, The Hague) is a contemporary artist whose creative journey began in the studio of his uncle, celebrated Dutch comic artist Johnn Bakker. Immersed in the bold visual language of 1960s pop culture and graphic storytelling from a young age, Jantzen went on to refine his craft at Rotterdam’s prestigious RTO Art Academy. His early career painting hand-rendered cinema billboards in Antwerp shaped his understanding of visual impact, scale, and narrative—a foundation that continues to inform his work today.

Jantzen’s art is instantly recognisable for its dynamic interplay of texture, light, and storytelling. Combining meticulous craftsmanship with contemporary elegance, his works often feature layered compositions that reveal more the longer you look. Whether through striking portraits or immersive mixed media pieces, Jantzen explores the tension between surface and depth, inviting viewers to engage not just visually, but emotionally.
