Tyres by Cécile Plaisance is a dynamic lenticular artwork that subverts traditional gender roles and celebrates raw femininity within an unexpected context. The piece features a striking woman, initially presented in rugged denim overalls and bearing traces of grease, confidently holding a large car tire in a garage setting with vintage-style racing cars in the background. As the viewer shifts their perspective, the lenticular effect dramatically transforms the image, revealing the woman’s nude form, still embracing the tire and maintaining her powerful gaze.

This artwork plays on the contrast between the grittiness of manual labor and the unveiled sensuality of the female form. Plaisance uses “Tyres” to challenge preconceived notions of strength, beauty, and the spaces women inhabit, asserting that power and allure can be found in any setting, and in unapologetic authenticity. It is a bold and thought-provoking statement piece, ideal for collectors who appreciate art that pushes boundaries and redefines perceptions of empowerment.
