Amber Pulse
Artist: Jeremy Kay
Jeremy Kay’s Amber Pulse sets hundreds of amber-tinted resin domes into tight spirals across a deep oxblood field, lit from behind so the entire surface reads as a single slow-burning ember. The tone shifts as it travels outward — molten orange at the core, cooling to burnt red where it meets the frame.
Unlit, the work is a rich, near-black crimson with a subtle spiral texture. Switched on, it transforms completely: the resin glows from within, the beads become individual points of fire, and the wall behind the piece takes on its warmth. Few works change so dramatically between their two states.
Amber Pulse draws directly on Kay’s years in music and DJ culture, translating the sensation of heat and rhythm in a darkened room into cast resin and light. It is designed less to be looked at than to be felt — a work that alters the mood of a space the moment it is turned on.
