Golden Hour

Jeremy Kay’s Golden Hour alternates broad bands of saturated yellow with apricot and burnt amber, radiating from a bright solar centre in the way light bends and warms through the last hour of sun. The tinted resin domes sit close enough to read as one continuous glowing field from across a room.
Up close, that field resolves into hundreds of individually cast beads, each holding its own depth of pigment. The transition between bands is handled entirely in the casting rather than painted, giving the colour a clarity and saturation that flat pigment cannot reach.
Golden Hour is among the warmest and most immediately joyful works Kay has produced. Backlit, it functions as both artwork and light source, filling a space with the particular amber cast of late afternoon regardless of what the sky outside is doing.
