Milk Opal
Artist: Jeremy Kay
Jeremy Kay’s Milk Opal works entirely in ivory and pearl white, with the faintest warm cast gathering at the centre where the light collects. Stripped of colour, the piece becomes a study in surface alone — hundreds of hand-cast resin domes reading as a fine iridescent grain across the full 125 cm disc.
What the work loses in chromatic drama it gains in subtlety. The spiral pattern lifts and falls as you move past it, catching ambient light along one edge and dropping into shadow along the other. It is a piece that changes constantly while appearing, at a glance, not to change at all.
Milk Opal is the most restrained work in the series and the easiest to place. In a neutral interior it reads as architecture as much as artwork, adding texture and luminosity without competing with anything around it.
